Sharath Kamal Achanta

Being hailed as the face of a sport by a country is a privilege that follows tremendous effort and successful feats. In this regard, Sharath Kamal Achanta is undoubtedly the most popular name in the sport of Table Tennis in India. He has been the flag-bearer of Indian Table Tennis since 2002, winning over 60 international medals in the span of 16 years, of which, 13 are Commonwealth Games medals and 2 Asian Games medals. He has won the National Championships for a record breaking – 10 times and represented India the 5 Olympic Games in 2004, 2008, 2016, 2020 and 2024. In recognition to his contribution in the field of Table Tennis. He was also the flag bearer of the Indian contingent at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Government of India has conferred him with the Padma Shri award in 2019. He won the Oman Open title in 2020.
