An Arjuna Awardee, the former Indian international shooter is now the Chief Coach of the Indian Rifle Shooting team.
An Olympic finalist in Athens 2004, Suma Shirur is also the joint world record holder with a maximum score of 400 points in the 10M Air Rifle event, which she shot at the 2004 Asian Shooting Championships in Kuala Lumpur. An accomplished shooter, she is a multiple medalist at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games 2002, 2006 & 2010.
She is the coach of 2x Paralympic Gold 1x Paralympic Bronze Medal winning shooter Avani Lekhara.
In 2006 she started her own academy, Lakshya Shooting Club that has nurtured 2 Olympians, 9 international shooters and over a 100 national shooters.
